In many of these church buildings the pastors teach that people should give a 10 percent tithe. They teach that people should give “the church” ten percent of their monthly income. They say “its time for tithes and offerings”, pray, and then they pass the baskets around. Is this in scripture?
What is a tithe?

What is an offering?

Tithes in the word of God
- Lets look at tenth and tithe appearing together in scripture
Leviticus 27:30-32 KJV
And all the tithe of the land, whether of the seed of the land, or of the fruit of the tree, is the LORD’S: it is holy unto the LORD. [31] And if a man will at all redeem ought of his tithes, he shall add thereto the fifth part thereof. [32] And concerning the tithe of the herd, or of the flock, even of whatsoever passeth under the rod, the tenth shall be holy unto the LORD.
- Some pastor out there sees this and thinks “Tithe of the land, this must mean money”. Well he’s in error. This passage is referring to land. Its referring to agriculture and farm animals.
Numbers 18:24-29 KJV
But the tithes of the children of Israel, which they offer as an heave offering unto the LORD, I have given to the Levites to inherit: therefore I have said unto them, Among the children of Israel they shall have no inheritance. [25] And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying, [26] Thus speak unto the Levites, and say unto them, When ye take of the children of Israel the tithes which I have given you from them for your inheritance, then ye shall offer up an heave offering of it for the LORD, even a tenth part of the tithe. [27] And this your heave offering shall be reckoned unto you, as though it were the corn of the threshingfloor, and as the fulness of the winepress. [28] Thus ye also shall offer an heave offering unto the LORD of all your tithes, which ye receive of the children of Israel; and ye shall give thereof the LORD’S heave offering to Aaron the priest. [29] Out of all your gifts ye shall offer every heave offering of the LORD, of all the best thereof, even the hallowed part thereof out of it.
- Heave offering?

- Do we still give the Lord offerings?
Hebrews 10:10-14 KJV
By the which will we are sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all. [11] And every priest standeth daily ministering and offering oftentimes the same sacrifices, which can never take away sins: [12] But this man, after he had offered one sacrifice for sins for ever, sat down on the right hand of God; [13] From henceforth expecting till his enemies be made his footstool. [14] For by one offering he hath perfected for ever them that are sanctified.
- Jesus Christ who is God, offered himself for you. He paid the price for your sins. The offering that the Jews did are not required today.
- Look again:
Deuteronomy 12:6 KJV
And thither ye shall bring your burnt offerings, and your sacrifices, and your tithes, and heave offerings of your hand, and your vows, and your freewill offerings, and the firstlings of your herds and of your flocks:
Deuteronomy 12:11 KJV
Then there shall be a place which the LORD your God shall choose to cause his name to dwell there; thither shall ye bring all that I command you; your burnt offerings, and your sacrifices, your tithes, and the heave offering of your hand, and all your choice vows which ye vow unto the LORD:
Deuteronomy 12:17 KJV
Thou mayest not eat within thy gates the tithe of thy corn, or of thy wine, or of thy oil, or the firstlings of thy herds or of thy flock, nor any of thy vows which thou vowest, nor thy freewill offerings, or heave offering of thine hand:
Deuteronomy 14:22 KJV
Thou shalt truly tithe all the increase of thy seed, that the field bringeth forth year by year.
- “All the increase of thy seed” is this talking about children? NO! Seeds grow in the field and become crops.
Deuteronomy 14:23 KJV
And thou shalt eat before the LORD thy God, in the place which he shall choose to place his name there, the tithe of thy corn, of thy wine, and of thine oil, and the firstlings of thy herds and of thy flocks; that thou mayest learn to fear the LORD thy God always.
Deuteronomy 14:28 KJV
At the end of three years thou shalt bring forth all the tithe of thine increase the same year, and shalt lay it up within thy gates:
Deuteronomy 26:12 KJV
When thou hast made an end of tithing all the tithes of thine increase the third year, which is the year of tithing, and hast given it unto the Levite, the stranger, the fatherless, and the widow, that they may eat within thy gates, and be filled;
They cannot even pull it up in scripture
If you attend a church building, ask the “pastor” to show you the ten percent tithe in the bible. He can’t, cause its not in there. He will go to the old testament and show you one of the scriptures above. He will make a lot of money teaching this false doctrine. He’s a liar. May the Lord rebuke every man that teaches this false doctrine.
Why do the pastors in church buildings teach this?
The church buildings aren’t even in scripture. They hold to the tradition of men just like the Pharisees and scribes that hated Jesus.
Mark 7:5-8 KJV
Then the Pharisees and scribes asked him, Why walk not thy disciples according to the tradition of the elders, but eat bread with unwashen hands? [6] He answered and said unto them, Well hath Esaias prophesied of you hypocrites, as it is written, This people honoureth me with their lips, but their heart is far from me. [7] Howbeit in vain do they worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men. [8] For laying aside the commandment of God, ye hold the tradition of men, as the washing of pots and cups: and many other such like things ye do.
- They make the word of God of none effect through their traditions.
Mark 7:13 KJV
Making the word of God of none effect through your tradition, which ye have delivered: and many such like things do ye.
- They been spoiled and they spoil and deceive people.
Colossians 2:8 KJV
Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ.
- They love money
1 Timothy 6:10 KJV
For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.
- They are not of Christ, they are false teachers of the word.
2 Corinthians 11:13-14 KJV
For such are false apostles, deceitful workers, transforming themselves into the apostles of Christ. [14] And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light.
2 Peter 2:1-3 KJV
But there were false prophets also among the people, even as there shall be false teachers among you, who privily shall bring in damnable heresies, even denying the Lord that bought them, and bring upon themselves swift destruction. [2] And many shall follow their pernicious ways; by reason of whom the way of truth shall be evil spoken of. [3] And through covetousness shall they with feigned words make merchandise of you: whose judgment now of a long time lingereth not, and their damnation slumbereth not.
- They run government corporations. Their church buildings fall under the 501(c)(3) tax code. They get a tax exemption from the government. Most of the time they don’t own the building. They NEED your money to pay the bills. They owe the goverment.
Romans 13:8 KJV
Owe no man any thing, but to love one another: for he that loveth another hath fulfilled the law.
- So they can get steady money coming in, they will allow anyone into the church building.
2 Corinthians 6:14 KJV
Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness?
- They won’t teach anything that will hurt your feelings. Can’t have people running off now can we?
Romans 16:18 KJV
For they that are such serve not our Lord Jesus Christ, but their own belly; and by good words and fair speeches deceive the hearts of the simple.
- Sone church building pastor somewhere is telling people “When you come to church, you put on your Sunday Best”. Where is this in the bible?
- Run from these church buildings! Flee as quick as possible and don’t look back. Those buildings are not the house of God.
Acts 7:48-49 KJV
Howbeit the most High dwelleth not in temples made with hands; as saith the prophet, [49] Heaven is my throne, and earth is my footstool: what house will ye build me? saith the Lord: or what is the place of my rest?
Acts 17:22-24 KJV
Then Paul stood in the midst of Mars’ hill, and said, Ye men of Athens, I perceive that in all things ye are too superstitious. [23] For as I passed by, and beheld your devotions, I found an altar with this inscription, TO THE UNKNOWN GOD. Whom therefore ye ignorantly worship, him declare I unto you. [24] God that made the world and all things therein, seeing that he is Lord of heaven and earth, dwelleth not in temples made with hands;
